MRUDANG DESAI

Founder Director – Mrudang Academy for Excellence In Creative Arts.

Mrudang has been a Choreographer and Dancer for the last 25 years in which he has done National and International shows.He has taught in different cities all over India. He has been a Dancer and Choreographer with Shiamak Davar’s Institute for the Performing Arts or 8 years, during which, he has also done national level shows like IIFA, Filmfare and worked with people like Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Mr. Shahrukh Khan, Mrs. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mr. Hritik Roshan, Sushmita Sen, Urmila Matondkar, Isha Koppikar, Remo Fernandes to name a few. Being associated with Shiamak Davar, he has been a part of various television ads for Lux and Max New York Life. He has been part of Sahara Show which took place in Lucknow in Sahara City. Has also been a part of sound editing for 2004 Film Fare Awards, performed in Shows like YES!! Show in NCPA (National Center for the Performing Arts) Mumbai and Nadia Wadia show. He also has been part of CBBC Documentary “Extreme Schools” which was telecast at LONDON.

Mrudang – Academy For Excellence in Creative Arts is now Authorized Training Center by Educational Board of Vocational Training & Research.

Mrudang is the only choreographer to be part of Bal Bharati Main Stream Education System. Our Academy has developed Dance – Fitness course for the same. Standards like 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th.

As a part of volunteering work, Mrudang has conducted –

• Dance Workshops for sex workers’ children in Shanti Sanstha, Kamatipura, Mumbai,
• Dance Workshops for underprivileged in Akanksha, Mumbai,
• Dance Workshops for remand home children in David Sasson, Mumbai
• Dance performance for SOFOSH (society of friends of Sassoon hospital) orphanage.
• Dance Classes for NGO Educate Pune.

Mrudang with Sakal newspaper took a dance workshop for NIE & Young Buzz 14 cities in Maharashtra and Goa where he taught more than 2400 kids.

He has also been a judge for events like- Sakal Newspaper kids dance competition, Pune Rotract Club “Harmony”, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Symbiosis college, Vikhe Patil school, Karnataka State level dance competition, PUMBA “Dhruv”. Horlicks Inter-School competition. Pegasus by MMCC.

He choreographed for Malhar n Karandak shows to name few Inter School and College competitions.

In the context of animation, he has been a part of Thumbnail Animation Studios – Pune and done Visual ads, Animation Post Production SFX and Composition of Live Show Twinkle Toons and Television ads.

Talking of varied responsibilities, he has held the post of Head of Department of animation and performing arts for FAD, Pune branch of a London based academy.
